With the premiere of the new series on the National Geographic channel there are a lot of questions of “what should I prep for” and “how do I find out what to do?”
Well if you’ve looked around online you know it’s quite difficult to find good information. Let alone all in one place and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. It could take days possibly even weeks to track down everything you’d need to know to effectively survive.
A few things you need to think about:
- Water - The first question is where are you going to get water? We use water for just about everything from cooking, hygiene and of course to live. And without a consistent source you will die. After locating water either ground water, rain water or surface water the next thing it is to make it drinkable and how to store it.
- Shelter – Next is where are yo going to live? Some factors include proximity to resources, availability of land for food acquirement, volume and quality of nearby water, social considerations, and safety from scoundrels and disease. After finding a spot is what kind of shelter you will stay in. Will you use existing buildings or build your own?
- Food – What are you going to eat? Will you have enough stockpiled? Do you know how to grow a garden or hunt? Food is very important for survival and should know all of this even if the apocalypse doesn’t come.
- Self defense – With resources scarce there are going to be people trying to get everything they can which can cause a lot of pandemonium. With all the chaos and riots the need to defend your resources and more importantly yourself and family.
I know just how hard it is to find useful information on these things. After a few weeks of my own personal research I stumbled across this great website with literally everything I needed to know. Let me tell you I was relieved when I found this. It meant I could stop scouring google for info and focus on the important thing. PREPPING.
